Great Guana Cay

The winds have settled a bit and we need to continue on our journey to Marsh Harbor where we will leave the boat for Christmas. There are still a couple places we’d like to stop on our way. One of those is Great Guana Cay, where we want to check out Nippers, a bar and restaurant on the beach which is famous for its Sunday afternoon BBQ. We hear it can be very busy/crowded/crazy later on in the season. So we drop the hook in a pretty wide open anchorage and dingy in to check it out. Nippers is a colorful place with a 2 level swimming pool and a beautiful view of the beach. There are as many people as I’ve seen anywhere here so far, so I can only imagine what it’s like when really busy. The rum drinks are frosty, the BBQ is pricey and just OK in my opinion. Fun to try it once though. We head on to Hope Town in the afternoon and anchor outside the harbor with a couple other boats.  John on the beach at Nippers.

The view from Nippers.
